A recent BBC1 report on one of our clients, broadcast in a popular early evening slot, where it would be expected to generate some interest, was not as successful in generating traffic as we had thought it might.

The presenter demonstrated that "wherever you look, this company comes up", by carrying out a live Google search, whereupon our client's website was seen at the top of the organic listings, in the number 1 slot on the first page, for a fairly generic, but very relevant search term.

It wasn't strictly true of course, that our client's website came up "wherever you look" - it only appeared when relevant key words and phrases were used.

Checking the website stats following the programme, no discernible "blip" in the traffic level was detected and as far as we could tell, only 2 emails were generated due to the programme.

So what does that demonstrate? We seriously believe that the internet is taking over from conventional advertising, that use of search engines is the main method in which people now find what they're looking for, in real time - and just when they need to find it.
